This process was introduced in 1894 and is valued for its high degree of artistic control it gives the photographer over the aesthetics of the final print. It produces colour tones and an almost painterly-like appearance.
I created these Gum Bichromate prints by coating paper in a potassium dichromate solution, placing a variety of objects on the paper and then exposing it in sunlight for around 15 minutes.

Great images. I've tried this myself but my results were not as good as this. I'm told that you can re-coat your paper and add another colour. Next time you are home get in touch I have a great little book on alternative sun printing techniques.
ReplyDeleteThanks Andy :) Yeah I tried to do it with a couple of different colours but didn't turn out very well - probably didn't expose it for long enough. Okay cheers, will do!
